Hydrotherapy or Aquatherapy is any activity performed in water to assist in rehabilitation and recovery.  This therapy is been used for thousands of years.

 

Hydrotherapy is the use of water for therapy, rehabilitation, exercise, relaxation and more. The unique properties of water, including the decreased effects of gravity, the effects of buoyancy, hydrostatic pressure are used by the physiotherapist along with their diagnostic skills, exercise knowledge and other treatment techniques to enhance the recovery and rehabilitation of clients with a wide range of conditions and provide a unique environment to maintain health, well-being and fitness.

During a session a therapist will guide, assist and support a patient through a series of exercises in the water to assist in recovery, mobility, pain relief, flexibility and muscle strength.

Hydrotherapy can assist with the following but is not limited to:

  • Rehab post-surgery or following an injury
  • Back or disk injuries
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Neuropathy
  • Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS)
  • Multiple sclerosis (MS)
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Scoliosis
  • Pain.
  • Stiffness
  • Swelling
  • Muscle pain
  • Lack of mobility

Sessions are either 45min or 60min long, with the option to do a monthly membership or per session. All sessions are one on one and focuses on patients’ specific needs.

It is ideal for people with injuries, elderly, people, people who struggle with mobility or anyone who needs or wants therapy.  Students do not need any swimming experience.
